Some of the services we offer at our facility include:
A filling replaces and restores your child’s tooth structure. Damage can be caused by decay or a fracture of the tooth.
When a tooth is severely decayed, and a filling will not help its health, an extraction may be necessary. An extraction is the complete removal of a tooth. This procedure is sometimes needed when a tooth is preventing the normal eruption of a permanent tooth. Extraction is also common if a tooth is impacted, which in most cases is someone’s wisdom teeth. Whether or not an exaction is surgical or nonsurgical depends on how complicated the case our doctor is presented with. We will give your child mild anesthesia to make sure they are as comfortable as possible during the extraction.
The third molar in your child’s mouth is commonly referred to as “wisdom teeth.” These teeth generally begin to appear in your child’s late teens or early twenties. However, these molars often don’t have the room to erupt or even appear at all fully. This unfortunate condition is called impaction. Impaction can cause many problems, usually damage to adjacent teeth. Crowding can also occur, leading to additional issues with healthy teeth.
Occasionally when a wisdom tooth does not erupt through the gums, it becomes inflamed under the gums and jawbone. This inflammation will cause a sac filled with liquid to develop. A cyst or abscess can develop if this sac becomes infected. If either is untreated, severe damage to the surrounding bone, teeth, and tissue can occur.
To prevent this severe health situation, the extraction of one, several, or all wisdom teeth may be warranted. In this situation, we will refer you to an area oral surgeon for this complicated procedure. We work with several great local oral surgeons in the area and will be able to bring them up to speed on your child’s current dental situation.
